Canada will not recognize the expulsion of her Ambassador to Ivory Coast by the defeated President Laurent Gbagbo. The order itself is illegitimate since Canada views the regime of Laurent Gbagbo as illegitimate.

Prime Minister Stephen Harper made the comments while answering a question at a news conference in Welland. On the referendum in Sudan, Prime Minister Harper called on all parties to abide by the regulations laid down for the process.
