The Southern Ontario French Immigrant Women Association of Niagara, SOFIFRAN has expanded its original mandate to deliver services on women issues.

The association has amended its policy through the Annual General Meeting held in Welland to cater to families of the members including their males.

SOFIFRAN was set up to address social, economic, educational and cultural issues facing French women in the Niagara region.

Fete Kimpiobi, Executive Manager of the Association told Mosaic Edition that the Association would still serve its base. It has been noticed, according to her that most events were not only attended by the women members but were also attended by families including their male household.

The AGM approved an outreach to women outside Niagara including Hamilton. The association has been receiving calls from some Hamilton residents lately for friendship and networking.

Malica Attou, President SOFIFRAN called on French women to take advantage of the services provided by the association. “We are here for french association presidentthem,” she said. “We want them to come and participate and ask for information,” “We do not want members to be isolated,” said Malica Attou.

SOFIFRAN has opened an office in the city of St. Catharines. The office is located at 40 King Street. The Executive Manager will be available at the office on Tuesdays and Wednesdays between 11 am and 4.00 pm.
